CARBON FOOTPRINT EVALUATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IMPROVEMENT THROUGH CAPACITY OPTIMIZATION

چکیده

The burning of fossil fuel for power generation emits Greenhouse gases into the environment. Gases (GHGs) emission is principal cause global warming. In order to regulate emissions these gases, need be assessed and quantified. Carbon footprint evaluation human activities that lead GHGs emissions. Covenant University Electricity Network during periods when utility supply fail runs on diesel powered generators located at different centers within campus. These emit carbon-based compounds Assessing quantity carbon dioxide which emitted per year gives 33.14-tonnes. Analysis load profiles in showed all eight are not supposed running simultaneously as it now. This study developed a new network model where were integrated DC microgrid ensured resource sharing. was simulated using energy management optimization techniques resulting reduced micro-generators engagement, Green House consumption. Consequently, dropped 18.44-tonnes from improved campus by much 44.3%. Keywords: Climate change, footprint, optimization, JEL Classifications: Q5, Q430, L94 DOI: https://doi.org/10.32479/ijeep.10209
